Announcements:
What to bring to class...
Bring a laptop with the textbook chapter of the week OR the textbook chapter of this week printed out.
Bring blank paper to work problems in class and pens/pencils/erasers.
You will probably want a simple
scientific calculator with you in class. If you don't have one on your computer or smartphone:
these run around $9 to $15 ish at
the big stores (Wal-Mart, K-Mart, Target). A scientific calculator has
buttons that probably include
cos, sin, tan, exp, log, ex ,EE, +/- buttons (or ones similar
to that). We won't immediately use all those functions, but if the calculator
can do those, it can do what we DO need it for.
If you want a fancier graphing or algebraic calculator, you'll be able to follow
along the calculator aids in the textbook.
The calculator pictured in the
examples is a TI-83 which run $90 to $150. It's a helpful bonus but
NOT a requirement.

presentations. You'll still be able to see the equations AFTER the 30day trial
period. After that time, it allows you to read but not do complex editing
of the equations.
